What I’m wearing: Sweater dress: Free People (similar here and here) // Boots: Joie (very similar here) // Bag: Lulu’s (similar here and nearly identical to Chloe bag)
Thanksgiving is two weeks away and I already know I won’t be wearing skinny jeans. I like to opt for loose-fitting clothing so I can comfortably eat and take a nap in the car on the way home. The next two weeks will fly by so I thought I would share an effortless outfit to wear for Thanksgiving, that you probably already have in your closet.
I always like dressing up during the holidays, even if we’re just having dinner at our parent’s house. Let’s be serious, I never miss an opportunity to dress up. I’m wearing this sweater dress from Free People and plan on wearing it with tights now that it’s so cold outside. I love how it looks with black over-the-knee boots here. Sweater dresses are so comfortable, Thanksgiving-friendly and look instantly stylish. Although I love dressing up for Thanksgiving, it’s not a holiday that I will typically run out and purchase a new outfit for. Here are some new outfit ideas that you can pull out of your closet, using pieces you most likely already own.
outfit ideas
♥ Reinvent the floral dress you wore all Spring and Summer by adding black tights and black boots with a shoulder bag. Add a camel coat or blazer for some layering options like I did here.
♥ I love a great pair of jeans but I avoid skinny jeans at all costs on Thanksgiving. Try a pair of straight leg jeans or boyfriend jeans dressed up with a cute pair of heels or sock booties. I love how a t-shirt looks with straight leg jeans or a boat-neck sweater with a white button-down underneath.
♥ A ribbed button-down cardigan knit midi dress with black booties looks so good with a camel coat on top. I love this one from Urban Outfitters. This one from Target is less than $40 and looks great as a dress or sweater.
♥ There is nothing more stylish than a slip dress with a cozy sweater on top. I love this leopard skirt version and this velvet slip dress from a previous post. Another great option is this champagne-colored slip skirt.
♥ If you’re on a budget, the quickest way to look instantly chic is by going for a monochromatic look. Take two pieces out of your closet that are the same color and your outfit is instantly next level. I love pairing grey jeans and a grey sweater together or a black slip dress with a black wrap sweater.
♥ Lastly, if it’s an hour before you need to leave for Thanksgiving dinner, make an ordinary outfit pop with a chunky tartan scarf. This one is $13 from H&M or you can dig through your wardrobe for something similar.
