On Friday, J waited patiently as I put the finishing touches on my date night outfit. He watched as I vogued into the room and twirled so he could have a full 360 degree view. I was wearing a casual graphic t-shirt tucked into a nude pleated maxi skirt and topped off with snakeskin patterned stilettos. I accessorized with some gold jewelry, hot pink lipstick and my trusty ballerina bun. I asked him what he thought.
“I honestly don’t like it,” he said as a matter of fact. He thought the graphic t-shirt was too dressed down for a fancy maxi skirt. “They just don’t go together,” he added. Of course he didn’t like it. He doesn’t like the whole bun thing and thinks you should be either casual or dressed up, not both. There are some outfits you wear that you know your significant other will like and some outfits you wear for yourself-and other stylish women who get that a t-shirt with a chic french phrase added to a long flowing skirt somehow just works. Although he enjoys my mini catwalks, he doesn’t always appreciate my outfits.
I have to give J credit though. Towards the end of the night, when my shoes didn’t feel as pretty as they looked, he didn’t complain as he walked at a snail’s pace so that I could wiggle alongside him in my heels to keep up. 🙂
