My Outfit Details: T-shirt: Target | Skirt: Express | Sandals: Rebecca Minkoff via Shopbop | Denim Jacket: Halogen via Nordstrom | Lipstick: Turkish Delight by NARS

Ever since I had Perry, I’ve been living in sweatpants and a t-shirt with messy hair and no makeup on. That in itself combined with baby isolation mode lead to a strong urge to get dressed and venture outside to have some adult conversations.  Just the act of showering itself makes me feel like a brand new person. J and I took Perry and Brooklyn for a walk so I took that as an opportunity to take some blog pics. 🙂 Combining black and white is pretty basic so I like to pick pieces that have interesting details. For example, I love the asymmetrical hem of this skirt (on sale!) and the gladiator sandals add some edge to an otherwise plain outfit.

I can’t believe how much more time it takes to get ready and out the door when you’re a new mom! Just timing Perry’s feedings and keeping her entertained so I can get dressed requires a lot of running back and forth between the bathroom and her co-sleeper, currently located in our bedroom. I can recall one particular time when I was taking Perry with me to a lactation support group meeting and we made it all the way out the door in record time. I was strapping her into her car seat, excited that we were ahead of schedule, when I realized I forgot the baby carrier, a must have when walking around the city! I unstrapped her from the car seat and we went back in to get it. She wasn’t thrilled about the setback and we were late, of course, but at least we made it! Hopefully as I continue to adjust to mama life, getting dressed and out of the house will go a little smoother.

Although I lost most of my pregnancy weight, the last few pounds are lingering so I’ve been dressing strategically to not highlight certain areas. When I think about everything the human body does to bring a baby into this world, it’s truly a miracle. It’s hard to believe Perry started as a little peanut and is now our beautiful baby girl. Although my clothes didn’t quite fit like they used to, I wasn’t in a rush to start working out. Now that I’m 6 weeks postpartum, i’m looking forward to exercising again and getting back to my pre-pregnancy shape.

Has anyone been to any fun exercise classes in the Philly area? I’ve been meaning to try Barre. Any thoughts? Thanks for reading! xo, Tanya
