The New StreetStylePhilosophy.com

Welcome to the new StreetStylePhilosophy.com! You may have noticed that the site has undergone a complete rebranding and has been redesigned completely from scratch.

The blog originally launched in 2013 and was long due for a refresh. I designed the original site, laptopsandheels.com, myself using a WordPress theme and often turned to Google to answer any web development issues I was stuck on. Technology and the world of blogging has changed so much since then so the site was long overdue for something new and exciting.

When I started this process, I knew I wanted a blog that was user friendly, vibrant, easy to navigate, well-connected to social media, and easily shoppable with a consistent brand throughout. It was important to me to have a beautiful and functional website while remaining true to myself and my readers. I spent most of 2016 researching developers and figuring out what I wanted in a new site. In came Holly, who did an amazing job with web design and development and exceeded all of my expectations. I reached out to Holly in July, we officially began working together in August, and six months later, the site is now ready to launch! Truthfully, it would have been ready months before but between my need for perfection, starting a new job, and raising a toddler, things were often delayed. It’s been a long process but I love the final result and I’m so excited it’s finally here and I can share it with all of you!

In the mood board above, you can see that the color palette includes blush, smoke, sand and charcoal. These colors are common in my wardrobe so I love that they’re reflected here as well. I wanted the blog to have a personality of its own so when you have it open on your screen, you immediately recognize Street Style Philosophy, whether it’s the font, colors or content.

I want to point out some of the new site functionality and how to navigate so you can find what you’re looking for quickly or just do some browsing.

At the top of the site, you’ll find the navigation bar where you can get to the style lab (I had to somehow incorporate pharmacy), posts about family, career code, philly notes, and my story. There are also sub-pages under each tab. So under Style Lab, you can either view all the style lab posts or click on one of the topics like work, play, or explore, depending on what you’re interested in. Under Family, you can read about pregnancy or motherhood. Under Career Code, you can view specifics on productivity or business travel. Under My Story, I included some information about me and how to get in contact.

Philly Notes includes Philly Favorites, a new series on my favorite parts of Philadelphia and things I’ve discovered over the years, like restaurants and other fun events. There is also a series called Philly Reads, with articles on books I love or am currently reading. I love reading books, writing about books, the smell of books and really anything related to books so I’m really excited about this series. These pages are evolving so I’ll be adding and removing categories based on your feedback and what you want to read!

Under the (brand new!) logo, you’ll see three large horizontal images with links to the three most recent blog posts. Under that, you’ll see the next three posts listed vertically. The posts are in chronological order so you can read more by clicking “older posts” at the bottom to go further back. If you’re looking for something in particular, you can search using the search bar at the bottom if the page.

You can subscribe to my newsletter in the middle of the home page to stay in the loop on any new updates to the site and get emails when new articles are posted. You’ll also find links to all my social media profiles on the top right corner of the home page and you can share posts by clicking the social media icons at the bottom of each post. There is also a fun new “pin it” button if you hover over an image, so you can easily share on Pinterest. How awesome is the drawing on the right by my friend, Brittany Papale? If you want to get back to the home page, just click on the Street Style Philosophy logo at the top.

Take some time to explore and click around the site (mobile works but you can see the full functionality on your desktop computer). I can’t wait to hear what your thoughts are and what is working versus what needs to be improved. There are so many exciting things to come, including new series, which I’m really excited to share. Thanks so much for always staying engaged and building a fabulous community on Street Style Philosophy!
