Philly in the summer can be sweltering and humid. With temperature in the 90s these past few days, I find myself reaching for breezy dresses, which I don’t mind at all. Sometimes all it takes is one new dress in your closet to breathe life into your wardrobe. For me, that’s a dress from Reformation.

I saw this dress online and loved the ruffle edged neckline and floral print. It has a vintage look but with a modern feel. Reformation is my favorite destination for pretty summer dresses with classic silhouettes. The main elements I look for are a light material, feminine details and some flirty vibes.

love the fit

Recently, they launched a petites collection designed for ladies 5’2” and under, an extended sizes collection going up to size 22, and a collection specifically designed for women with a full C-DD cup. I find myself heading to reformation.com probably a little too frequently because i’ve noticed that the dresses fit really well. Essentially, a dress from reformation is for a woman with a real body.

sustainable practices

What most excited me about the brand is their sustainable practices. Fashion is the third most polluting industry in the world and one of the largest consumers of water. Producing one pair of denim jeans uses over 1,000 gallons of water! Producing textile fibers uses 20 billion pounds of chemicals a year and some of them are toxic. From growing textile fibers to moving fabrics around the world, fashion is contributing to the global climate crisis in a major way.

Most noteworthy, Reformation clothes are made from sustainable materials, rescued headstock fabrics and repurposed vintage clothing. They also incorporate sustainability in their labor and social practices. If sustainability is important to you, as it is to me, I would definitely do some more research. To be honest, these are things I never really thought about before having kids but I find myself thinking about our environmental impact now more than ever.

In the summer, dresses require the least amount of time and effort, with very little styling and layering need. The only requirement? Slip one on and enjoy the sunshine. I’ve rounded up 10 of my favorite Reformation dresses below (including this Cassandra dress). I also included a two-piece gingham set because I couldn’t resist. Which ones are your favorite? xo, Tanya
